ECHS Hosts 12th District Basketball Tournament
--Begins February 24th –
The 12th district basketball tournament returns to Brownsville. The girls and boys tournament will begin on Tuesday, February 24th with a girl’s doubleheader matching up Grayson County against Trinity at 6:00. The Lady Cats will play Butler County at approximately 7:45. The boys tournament will begin on Wednesday, February 25th with the Wildcats playing Butler County at 6:00 and Grayson County playing Trinity at approximately 7:45. The girls championship game will be at 7:00 on Thursday, February 26th. The boys championship will be at 7:00 on Friday, February 27th.
ECHS Athletic Director Kyle Pierce says that this year’s tournament could be one of the most competitive tournaments there have been in a long time. “In both our girls and boys tournaments, we have very similarly match teams. Our opening round games have matchups that will make it fun to watch. We know every team has worked extremely hard this season. We want to provide a great atmosphere for our teams and fans to have the best experience possible.”
Pierce wanted to make sure everybody knew that during district play, there are a few changes from the regular season. “First, we are going to have the main gate at the front doors of the high school, just like you would go to the office. Since the tournament receipts are shared with other schools, there are no passes that are honored. This includes coaches cards, season passes, reserved seats, etc. There are no signs, banners, posters, etc. allowed into the building during the district tournament. Admission is $5 per night.”
SENIOR NIGHT UPDATE: With this week's weather effecting many school's Senior Night activities, ECHS will honor each 12th district school's senior basketball players and cheerleaders during the tournament. Senior night was originally scheduled for this Friday night in Brownsville against Greenwood. The game has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled due to the district tournament.
