The Edmonson County Winter Warm-Up Tournament was held Saturday, January 21, 2017 with Edmonson County High School taking top high school team honors in the competition that featured 13 total area schools.

There were a range of categories and classes, including Elementary, Middle, and High School, with each having team and male and female individual scores.

North Butler Elementary won the elementary class, Warren East came out on top in the middle school category, and ECHS won the high school team division.

Several Edmonson County team members drew attention as they placed well in individual categories: Kaylee Cook placing 3rd in individual female competition (ECMS), Dalton Curtis placed 2nd in individual male (ECMS), and Zachary Jacobs placed 3rd, also in individual male (ECMS).

It was all Wildcats in the top individual honors for high school male with Brandon Vincent placing first, Nate Wilson winning 2nd, and Bailey Burba finishing 3rd.

ECHS Senior Brandon Vincent was barely edged out for overall top shooter of the entire competition, coming in second by only a fraction.

"This was a very successful tournament with a huge turnout," said EC Head Archery Coach Chris Shelton. "I'm so proud of these kids for what they're all doing."

He said that the tournament was the largest ever hosted by Edmonson County so far.

"We've got such great support with our parent volunteers and booster club," he said.

Helping Shelton with the team are assistants Wally Ritter, Brent Brown, and Derek Curtis, along with booster club president Keith Sanders, booster vice president Lisa Vincent, and treasurer Renee Vincent. Tyra Keltner stays proactive with promotion and fund raising events.
