Lady Cats vs. Glasgow Lady Scotties:
On November 17, the ECMS Lady Cats hosted the Lady Scotties of Glasgow for a 7th/8th double header. The 7th grade  continued their winning ways as they cruised easily past Glasgow 28-17, Lauren Ballance led all scorers with 10 points and 12 rebounds, improving their record to 7-0.

The 8th grade team came out solid to begin the game, going basket for basket with the Lady Scotties, only trailing by 2 at half time 17-15. This game would remain close till the 4th quarter, when ECMS got a boost from bench play with 6th grader Katie Lindsey, who sank two key 3 pointers to capture the lead, and the Lady Cats never looked backed. ECMS won 34-24, Chanley Logsdon finished with 9 points, and Hannah Meredith continued with her solid play, finishing with 7 points. After the match, the Lady Cats were 5-2.

Lady Cats vs. Barren County Middle School

On the following night, the Lady Cats took to the road as they played BCMS in Glasgow. Both Barren County Middle School teams would pose a challenge for the Lady Cats. The 7th grade game went down to the very wire, with Barren County leading the entire game until ECMS took the lead on a 3 pointer from Katie Lindsey with 2.2 seconds left, and the Lady Cats held on for the win 32-29. Lauren Ballance led all players with 14 points, going 8-10 from the free throw line.

The 8th grade Lady Cats would face their toughest test this year, being undersized against Barren County.  The size of BCMS showed on both sides of the ball for ECMS, as the Lady Trojans easily cruised past Edmonson County 41-23.

Lady Cats vs. Owensboro Cathlolic
Action continued as the Lady Cats hosted Owensboro Catholic on Friday, November 21. Both 7th grade teams would begin the contest undefeated. Each side began with what seemed to be really nervous play as the first quarter ended in 2-2 tie. Owensboro blew the game wide open in the 2nd going on a 19-2 run, and cruised on to victory over ECMS, 28-14. It was the 7th grade team's first loss of the season, bringing their record to an impressive 7-1.

The 8th grade Lady Cats wanted to set the tone early and try to control the tempo of the game. It was back and forth for each time with Owensboro Catholic taking a 16-15 lead into the locker room at halftime.  The Lady Cats made some key steals, and rebounds in the 4th to edge Owensboro Catholic 35-31. Chanley Logsdon led the way for the Lady Cats with 10 points, hitting two big 3 pointers from way downtown in the last minutes, helping improve their record to 6-3.

Lady Cats vs. Hancock County
The next morning, ECMS made the long trip  to Hancock County for a 7th/8th game. The 7th grade looked to bounce back from their only loss of the season, doing a fine job, as they easily handled Hancock County, 32-19 with Lauren Ballance leading the way for the Lady Cats with 14 points.

Next up was the 8th grade, and what would turn out to be an absolute fantastic performance for two players. Both teams came out sluggish with sloppy play in the first, somewhat turning it around by halftime.  Starting the third quarter, Hannah Meredith and Chanley Logsdon would take over this game, and neither attempted to look back. Meredith shot well, finishing with 8 points, and Chanley Logsdon, was on fire, finishing with 21 points, 6-7 FGs, and 3-4 from the three point line. The Lady Cats improved to 7-3.

Lady Cats vs. Grayson County
And finally before the Thanksgiving Break, ECMS would travel to Leitchfield to battle brooder rival, GCMS. Coach Tom Vincent was left scratching his head after the 7th grade game, as the Lady Cats committed 23 turnovers, killing the chance of victory, as they lost a tough one to the Lady Cougars 36-26. Lauren Ballance led the team in scoring with 11 points.

Coach Tyra Ballance knew her team would have their hands full with this Grayson County team, but the Lady Cats punched them right in the mouth to begin the game, never trailing, and brought home the win
over rival Grayson County 34-24. Hannah Meredith led the Lady Cats in scoring with 12pts.

The Lady Cats are back in action on tonight, December 1, hosting Barren County, then Tuesday December 2nd, the Lady Cats travel to south Bowling Green to play Drakes Creek.  December 6th is scheduled to be the conference tournament. Stay connected to the Edmonson Voice for the details.

This week’s Edmonson Voice player of the Week goes to Chanley Logsdon for her outstanding performances on and off the court.
