Freshmen Lady Cats Win District Championship

The ECHS Freshman Lady Cats opened play in the Freshman 12th District Tournament at Butler County last night as they played a double header, first winning against Butler County, then advanced to the championship game against Grayson County.

The Lady Cats jumped out to an early lead vs. Butler County and held it through halftime leading 23-7. In the 3rd quarter they continued,  extending the lead to 38-10. The Lady Cats ran away with this game, winning 44-10.

Caitlin Simon led all scorers with 11, followed by Skylar Lewis with 6 and Peyton Martin and Hannah Meredith each finished with 5. After only a few minutes of rest, ECHS continued on to the championship game.

The Lady Cats continued their strong play in the final game and managed to shut down Grayson County holding a commanding lead at halftime, 21-4. ECHS was simply too much for Grayson County as they dominated with this win, claiming the 12th District Freshman Title, 38-19. 

Caitlin Simon finished the game with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals, Kaitlin Collins added 10 points and 6 rebounds.  They will advance to the Regional Tournament scheduled for this Saturday. Times and location are still TBD.
