BG Sweeps Lake County 6-2 in Eleventh Straight Win EASTLAKE, OH – The Bowling Green Hot Rods wrapped up the first half with their 11th straight win, which sets a new franchise record long winning streak. The previous record of 10 was set earlier this year.
The Hot Rods started the scoring in the third inning when C Alexander Alvarez hit a two out single. The Hot Rods loaded the bases before a wild pitch broughtAlvarez home and the Hot Rods were up 1-0. Bowling Green broke the game open in the fifth inning with three runs. DH Mac Siebert led off with a single, and then with runners at the corners 2B Vidal Brujalaid down a beautiful bunt single to pick up the RBI. SS Taylor Walls brought home two more with a double and the Hot Rods had a 4-0 lead. LHP Resly Linares got the start for the Hot Rods, and he threw five innings allowed just one hit and one walk while picking up eight strikeouts. The Hot Rods extended the lead to six thanks to a solo home run from Alvarez and a RBI double from LF Moises Gomez. The Captains answered in the bottom half of the frame with a 3B Nolan Jones two run home run. RHP Tyler Zombro pitched a scoreless eighth and RHP Mikey York finished off the game recording the last three outs and send the Hot Rods to the All-Start break with a win. After three days off, the Captains and the Hot Rods meet again for a four game set. This time it will be a four game set and be played in Bowling Green. First pitchThursday is set for 6:35pm CST.
