Edmonson Voice Sports:
On Saturday, the Lady Cat Golf team traveled to The Pines at Lindsey Wilson to begin the 2021 golf season.

Coaches Kayla Meredith and Granville Meredith took two groups to this opening event, which consisted of  Group A; seniors Paige Wolfe and Hallie Cassady, and Group B; 8th grader Abby Hogg, freshman Lilly Parsley, sophomore Mia Holland, and 7th grader, Hannah Cassady.

Coach Kayla said Wolfe and Cassady had some great shots and played well, given this is their senior year and their first tournament of the year.  She also said that Wolfe has been practicing and playing a lot at her home course leading up to the tournament, which helped her lead the team with a team-best 90.  Cassady, who just recently got back from Governor's Scholars program, not having swung a club in five weeks, carded a 114.  Coach Kayla added that their presence in the lineup was much needed and is looking for better things out of the duo as the season continues.

Leading Group B was Hogg with a 64, followed by Cassady who carded a 72. Coach Kayla said she was impressed by the performance of the two youngsters.

"The future looks bright for Lady Cat golf with these two getting some experience now," she said. We'll need them to perform to help the team score in future matches.”

Parsley and Holland carded scores of 80 and 81, respectively.

"Lilly and Mia have had just a few practices and then went to this tournament to get experience and they learned so much during the event," said Coach Kayla.
“I can't tell you how proud I am them for not having much experience with golf and tournament play to have the best attitude and performing their best, they did an amazing job.”

Coach Granville commented on the tournament, “I am so proud of these young ladies, they have practiced hard and they are learning. We will get better," he said. "I just want them to learn and have fun and when it is their time to compete, they will play their best. So far they have done everything we have asked them and as a coach, that's all you can ask of your players.”
