Lady Cat golfers Makayla Hogg and Paige Wolfe participated in the All-A state golf tournament at Arlington Country Club in Richmond, Ky, last Saturday. The girls earned their way into the tournament by qualifying through their play in the All-A regional held at Shady Hollow golf course in August. Head Coach Ed Nunnelee said the girls enjoyed themselves and played well. "It’s good to see our kids getting out of their comfort zone, playing with kids from other parts of the state, and on a very nice golf course,” he said. Junior Paige Wolfe carded her best round of the season with a score of 93. “We played with girls from Hazard, Shelby Valley, and Dawson Springs,” she said. “We all played pretty well, weather was nice and we had fun. The course was really tough--greens were big, fast, and had a lot of breaks. Glad we got a practice round in the day before so we sorta knew what to expect.” Freshman Makayla Hogg shot a 107. "We played the back nine first and shot a 48; it’s the flat side," she said. "The front is much hillier and has a lot of side hill lies. A lot tougher, I thought. Still, it was fun.” Both girls said they wanted to return next year. “That can be one of our goals next year,” added Wolfe, “qualify as a team, not just individuals.”
