Senior Karissa Waldrop Honored Darren Doyle, story and photos: The Lady Cats notched a 7-0 win over Metcalfe County last night at James Woodcock Field in Brownsville which capped off a special night for the team's lone senior, Karissa Waldrop, who was honored in a pregame ceremony. Waldrop, the center fielder, went 2-3 against the Hornets, that included a double in the bottom of the 5th inning. Edmonson County was in control from the beginning to end, led by junior Grace Woodard's shutout pitching performance, where she went the full 7 innings. She gave up 6 hits, walked 4, and struck out 2 in the win. Sophomore catcher Mariena Thomas blasted a solo homer to left field in the 6th inning, her third of the season. She went 2-4 on the night with 2 RBIs.
Also racking up hits last night were Abbie Slaughter (2-4), Shea VanMeter (3-4), Callie Webb (1-3), Becca Meredith (1-3), Taylor Minyard (1-3), and Grace Woodard (1-3). Edmonson County is now 6-14 on the season and is scheduled for their final home game tonight against Grayson County (5-22) tonight at Woodcock Field.
