Edmonson Dominates Frederick Fraize 70-36 Darren Doyle, story: Madison Doyle, photos: The Edmonson County Lady Cats advanced to their fourth straight All A Classic Region 3 finals after moving past Frederick Fraize, also known as Cloverport, 70-36 in the semi-finals, hosted by Hancock County. The Lady Aces were simply outmatched by Edmonson County in the one-sided contest, as they struggled to stop dribble penetration from Lady Cat point guard Katie Lindsey. Lindsey finished with 20 points (18 in the first half). Edmonson jumped out to a 17-8 start despite going 0-5 from behind the three-point line. The 3-pointers came later as the team finished hitting 8 of 21. They also shot 51% from the field and 82% from the free throw line. Two other Lady Cats finished in double figures: Mia Goad had 11 points and 7 rebounds, and Lauren Ballance added 10 points and two rebounds.
Nearly everyone with game minutes landed in the score book. Chanley Logsdon finished with 9 points and 3 rebounds, Emma Vincent had 6 points and 5 rebounds, Shea Vanmeter had 5 points and 2 rebounds, Josi Morrison had 4 points and 6 rebounds, Madison Harrison finished with 2 points and 9 rebounds, Maci McCombs had 3 points and 3 rebounds, and Jaedlyn Simon finished with a rebound and a steal. The Lady Cats will take on Owensboro Catholic on Monday night at 7pm for the All A Region 3 Championship game; the winner of which will advance to the All A State Classic. It's the first opportunity for Edmonson County to win back-to-back titles in school history. Last season was the first All A Region championship claimed by the Lady Cats. They went on to advance to the semi-finals in last year's state competition. The All A is not affiliated with the KHSAA region and state tournaments (Sweet Sixteen). It's designated for schools with small enrollment numbers and allows them the chance to compete with similar schools from their respective regions. Smaller schools have a far less chance of advancing deep in their KHSAA region and state tournaments. The Edmonson Voice will carry both the video stream and audio broadcast from the WildcatsLive crew on Monday night with the pregame show beginning at 6:50pm.
