The Lady Cats snapped a four game losing streak when they defeated Hopkins County Central 57-51 in the ESB Ladies Showcase in Glasgow on Saturday. The girls were led by Peyton Martin's 17 points and Caitlin Simon's 16 points and 7 rebounds. Tori Browning added 9 points and 2 rebounds, Madelyne Taylor had 7 points and 9 rebounds in the effort. The girls shot 40% from the field and 81% from the free throw line. The Lady Cats traveled to Calloway County on Monday for the Murray Bank Hardwood Classic where they faced Carlisle County in the first round. Edmonson County was led in scoring by Martin with 14 points, but it was an impressive day for rebounding for the team. In rebounding, Caitlin Simon and Tori Browning each had 6, Martin and Madelyne Taylor each had 5, Rachael Duncan had 4, and Johnna Basil, Skylar Lewis, and Kaitlyn Collins each had 3. Rounding out the scoring was Taylor and Duncan with 9 each, Simon with 7, Basil 6, Browning 5, Logsdon 3, and Collins with 2. Edmonson County advanced to the next round, defeating Carlisle County 55-47. On Tuesday, the girls took on Calloway County in the semi finals where they trailed 11-10 after the first quarter, but grabbed a 19-18 lead at the half. Edmonson County was able to hold to a 32-27 lead after three, and held on for a 52-41 final. The Lady Cats will now face Henry County at 2:30 today in the championship game.
