The Lady Cats defeated Barren County last night at ECHS in their final game of the Raffery's/Double Dog's Caveland Classic 51-30 to complete their three game sweep at the classic, which also ended their sixth game in eight days.

Barren County trailed the Lady Cats by only two at the end of the first quarter 12-10 as the Trojanettes were able to find success down low with solid post play, but that success wouldn't last long as Edmonson County's tough defense began to force bad shots and turnovers for Barren County.

The Lady Cats were able to extend their lead to 31-14 at the half and kept things at that pace throughout the third quarter, leading 39-21 going into the fourth.

Leading the way for the Lady Cats was Caitlin Simon with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Peyton Martin added 16 points, 5 rebounds, and four assists.

Skylar Lewis and Katlin Collins also had solid performances as Collins added 7 points and 5 steals, and Lewis scored 6 while grabbing a season-high 9 rebounds.

Chanley Logsdon and Lauren Ballance added two points each.

The Lady Cats also shot 85% from the free throw line as a team while Simon was a perfect 10/10 and Martin hit 9/10.

Rafferty's Vice President and Edmonson County native Scott Lindsey presented a check to Edmonson County High School Athletics for $3,000 to cover the expenses of the tournament. Rafferty's also provided food for players, coaches, and staff of all teams during the tournament, along with the EC boys and girls basketball boosters.

Edmonson County is now 9-4 on the season and is currently ranked number three in Region Three.

The Lady Cats are on a four-game winning streak and will take a couple of days off before hosting Warren East at home on Monday in a JV/V match starting at 5:30pm. They will then travel to Butler County on Tuesday to take on the Lady Bears in the first district game of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 6pm. The WildcatsLive pregame show will start around 5:50pm only on EdmonsonVoice.com.
