Edmonson Voice Sports, story and photos The Lady Cat volleyball team opened up their regular season last night in Bowling Green against the Greenwood Lady Gators. Edmonson County got off to a shaky start in the first set, finding themselves in a 7-0 hole and forcing head coach Haley Garmon to call timeout. The Lady Cats scored three straight, but that was followed by a five point run by the Lady Gators to make it 12-3. Edmonson County cut Greenwood's lead to 16-10, but the Lady Cats never scored more than three at one time and couldn't overcome the deficit, dropping the first set 25-14. The second set started back and forth as the score became tied at four each, but a 6 point run by the Lady Gators had the Lady Cats struggling early in the contest. After a short timeout by EC, the Lady Cats rallied to cut Greenwood's lead to 14-11, but another strong 7-2 run from the Lady Gators extended their lead to 21-13. The Lady Cats got another couple of points back, but were unable to stop the Lady Gators as they lost the set 25-16 and the game 2-0. The Lady Cats will host district rival Trinity at ECHS in the season home opener this Thursday, August 18 in a JV/V matchup starting at 6pm.
