Lady Hornets Push Through 40-37 Darren Doyle, story: Alyssa Doyle, photos: The Lady Cats struggled against the Hancock County tonight at the Owensboro Sportscenter as they fell 40-37. Despite besting the Lady Hornets in rebounding (31-20) and keeping the turnovers close (EC 13, HC 11), Edmonson County didn't fare well against the physical play of Hancock. Both Emma Rose Vincent and Madison Harrison notched double-doubles (12 points 12 rebounds and 7 points 11 rebounds, respectively), but there wasn't much more offense from the rest of the team. "We missed some shots right around the basket and that's haunted us all year," said Coach Bart Weaver. "We did it again tonight and we missed some in a three-point game. When you miss 5 or 6 shots right around the basket, it's going to come back to haunt you."
In addition to Vincent and Harrison, Katie Lindsey had 6 points, Lauren Ballance and Paige Wolfe each had 5, and Lily Jayne Vincent had 2. The loss ended Edmonson County's winning streak at 5. They are scheduled to travel to Franklin-Simpson on Monday night for a JV/V game. The Lady Cats are now 11-8 on the season.
