Lady Aces Top Lady Cats 55-45 Darren Doyle, story: Alyssa Doyle, photos: After holding the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces to only 2 points in the first quarter, the Lady Cats saw OC rally in the second with a 19-5 quarter that would keep Edmonson County from advancing to the finals of the All A Region 3 Classic, hosted at ECHS. Edmonson County's defense forced several turnovers on the Lady Aces early but the tables were turned when Catholic's defense did the same to the Lady Cats in the second. The difference was that Catholic turned nearly all those turnovers into points and OC led 21-14 at the half. Edmonson County scrapped back with the help of the sharp shooting Macie McCombs, who put up 14 points on 4-three pointers but the size and length of the Lady Aces were too much for Edmonson to overcome as they fell 55-45.
"I thought our game plan was solid, holding them to 9-2 in the first quarter," said Head Coach Bart Weaver. He later discussed the bounce-back from the Lady Aces. "They played more like the way they play, and we knew it was coming," he said. "But you have to find a way to fight against it." Emma Rose Vincent scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, while going 4-4 from the free throw line. The remaining box score was Katie Lindsey 3, Lily J. Vincent 3, Lauren Ballance 1, Madison Harrison 1, Paige Wolfe 1. The Lady Cats are not scheduled to play again until Friday, January 10th when they travel to Trinity for a makeup game from earlier in the season.
