Darren Doyle, story and photos The Edmonson County Lady Cats extended their winning streak to eight consecutive games last night after rolling over district rival Butler County in a three-set sweep at ECHS (25-10, 25-8, 25-6). It also made the 19th consecutive set that Edmonson County has won, with each win being a sweep of the opponent. Coach Haley Garmon talked about the continued success of the program. "I mean, what do you say to these girls? They're doing so many things right and they're having fun." She also said that she feels confident about the remaining games on the schedule and mentioned the possibility of running the table on the rest of the regular season. She said there were weaknesses in the team, but discussed that off the record to keep that information from upcoming opponents. "We're going to be working on things in practice that will hopefully be enough to get us set for the district tournament." Last night's win made it number 20 and they still hold a number three ranking in Region 3 and stay number one in District 12. They improved to 20-9 on the season. They will have a short break from games with the next one scheduled at home on October 10th against Caverna. The following night, October 11th, is against Hart County and the annual Dig Pink Cancer Benefit game, which is also senior night. In addition to donating a portion of the proceeds to help a local family affected by cancer, the team will also honor one senior and her family, Dina Hollis. The girls will also have Spirit Night at Mis Amigos on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5pm-9pm with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the volleyball program.
