Darren Doyle, story: Madison Doyle, photos: The Edmonson County Lady Cats clobbered the Whitesville-Trinity Lady Raiders Saturday night 72-28 in the first round of the All A Classic Tournament hosted by Fredrick Fraize High School in Cloverport. After a bit of a slow start due to some cold shooting, the shots began to fall for the Lady Cats which allowed them to set up the full court press. Unable to handle the Lady Cat pressure, Trinity began to turn the ball over and Edmonson County capitalized on easy layups. The Lady Cats led 12-10 after the first, but were able to break the game open in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Raiders 22-6 as they held a 34-16 halftime lead. The second half was a repeat of the first as Edmonson County dominated in the last two quarters, securing the win and moving on to the second round. The Lady Cats were led offensively by Peyton Martin, who had 17 points. Caitlin Simon followed with 14, while Maddie Cline scored 12 off the bench.
Fifteen different Lady Cats got in on the game action during the one-sided victory. The remaining box score was: Logsdon 9, Harrison 6, Meredith 5, Lewis 3, Alexander 2, Ballance 2, Goad 2. The Lady Cats are scheduled to take on McClean County in the semi-finals on Monday at Cloverport at approximately 7:30pm. The game will be broadcast live on EdmonsonVoice.com with the WildcatsLive crew. The Lady Cats improve to 13-5 on the season and now sit at the top of the Region 3 rankings.
