Edmonson County volleyball got off to a good start this week with a win against Russellville on Monday night and then another against Warren Central last night. The Lady Cats swept both teams 2-0 in the wins.

Edmonson had little trouble over the Lady Panthers of Russellville on the road in the first set with a 25-13 win. The pace of the game stayed relatively similar in set two as the Lady Cats claimed the set win 25-15 and the game.

Freshman Alyssa Doyle led in kills with 5, while junior Emma Woodcock led in assists with 8. Senior Halle Estes added 3 kills, 2 digs, and 4 aces, senior Rachel Cowles added 3 assists and 2 digs, and freshman Kaylee Lindsey added 2 kills.

Edmonson County then traveled to Warren Central High School on Tuesday night to take on the Lady Dragons. The Lady Cats jumped out to a 7-2 lead which prompted a WC timeout. Edmonson scored the next two out of the timeout for a 9-2 lead. The Lady Cats had extended their lead to 15-9 when they went on a huge 10-0 run to end the set at 25-9.

Edmonson started set number two by scoring the first 5 points of the game and stretched their lead to 10-2 when Central called timeout. The Lady Cats took their lead up to 18-8 but the Lady Dragons put together a 10-6 run that kept them in the game. It wasn't enough as Edmonson took set two 25-18 and the game 2-0.

Edmonson County is now 6-14 on the season and is scheduled to take on Trinity at home on Thursday in a District 12 match with JV action beginning at 6pm. The big game will be a "red-out," and all Edmonson County students (countywide) will be admitted for only $1. All fans are asked to wear red for the game.
