Darren Doyle, story and photos The Lady Cats improved to a 9-3 record last night after defeating Warren Central 2-0 at ECHS. The Lady Cats have now won 4 in a row since losing to district rival Grayson County on August 25. Senior MaryChris Waddell was back in the lineup after missing Tuesday's game because of illness. The Lady Cats played Warren Central earlier in a preseason scrimmage and had little trouble taking care of business, however, the Lady Dragons looked much better during last night's match up. The first set began with the Lady Cats grabbing an early 7-3 lead but held on loosely as Central wouldn't go away. A 5 point run by the Lady Dragons tied it at 10 all, but ECHS was able to put up a couple of solid runs to remain in control, winning the set 25-18. The second set proved to be a series of runs by both teams as Central began with a 3-0 lead. The Lady Cats would answer with an impressive 14-3 run for a nice lead, but turned right around and allowed Central to score 7 in a row, as they came within one, 14-13.
ECHS went on a 10-4 run, holding a 22-17 lead but the Lady Dragons answered with a 4 point run of their own coming to within one point yet again, 22-21. The Lady Cats held on for the win, 25-22. ECHS will play at Whitesville Trinity on Saturday in the All A Regional Tournament. The next home game will be against Allen County-Scottsville Thursday, September 10th.
