The Lady Cats took on Metcalfe County last night in the second game at homecoming night. ECHS started the game in control as they jumped out to an early 17 – 14 lead after the first. In the second quarter both teams struggled to put points on the board, but the Lady Cats held on to the lead going into halftime 25 – 22. The third quarter was much of the same with defense from both teams keeping scoring low, but the Lady Cats went in the 4th clinging to a two point lead. During the last quarter, ECHS was able to take full control as they got hot from the field, putting up 28 points and were able to defeat Metcalfe 61 – 47. Brandi Lindsey led the way for the Lady Cats with 23 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds, and 5 steals, but an impressive team effort was also displayed as Caitlin Simon added 12 points, 3 assists, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Jhonna Basil had 11 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds and 1 steal, while Peyton Martin helped out with 8 points, and Tori Browning scored 7 points. The girls are scheduled to travel to Whitesville Trinity for a district matchup in a girl/boy doubleheader on Friday night starting at 6 pm. Granville Meredith, contributor Darren Doyle, photos
