Girls Win 35-26 Darren Doyle, story: Madison Doyle, photos: The Lady Cats bounced back from a big loss to Logan County on Tuesday to beat the Grayson County Cougars at ECHS last night in the first District 12 game of the year, 35-26. Led by senior Paige Wolfe's 16 points and 5 rebounds, Edmonson County was more efficient with their defense than earlier in the week. The girls got off to an 11-8 lead and led 19-15 at the half. Edmonson County shot 33% from the field on 14 of 42 shooting but struggled at the line, making only 3/11 (27%). They were slightly edged in rebounding by the Lady Cougars 26-24 but they held Grayson County to only 22% shooting on the night. Coach Weaver said the team had some tough practices this week, which he said paid off.
"They were just as aggressive as the other team was tonight, and that's the way we've got to play," he said. "We're blue collar. We've got to play that way. I was proud of them for diving everywhere tonight and just being physical." Carian Williams had 8 points off the bench. Callie Webb had 4 points and 2 rebounds, Lily Jayne Vincent had 3 points and 7 rebounds, Hallie Cassady had 2 points and 8 rebounds, and Jaedlyn Simon had 2 points. The Lady Cats are now 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in district play. They are scheduled to travel to Allen County-Scottsville on Tuesday for a G/B doubleheader starting at 6pm.
