The Lady Cats defeated 10th district champs, Muhlenburg County last night at the 3rd Regional Tournament, hosted by Ohio County. Mikayla Lindsey and Laney Meredith lead the team on the night with some great serves as two-thirds of the popular hashtag, #bumpsetboom attack. Fans in attendance also saw key plays on the back row from Julie Sullivan and Mary Chris Waddell. The "Morgan Mix" of Morgan Skaggs and Morgan Miller played well on the net for the Lady Cats, and all resulted in a 25 – 12 victory in the first set. ECHS dominated the second set with serves, blocks, and digs which led to a 25 – 9 win. The 3rd set was far more competitive, as Lady Cat errors and bad passing gave life to the Muhlenburg team. With EC in the lead 20 – 15 Head coach Heather Vincent allowed team reserves some playing time and the Lady Cats pulled out a 25 – 17 upset. “I didn’t have my best game out there tonight but glad my teammates had my back... these girls play with heart," said freshman Caitlin Simon. “ I will be ready tomorrow I promise” The girls were in good spirits after the game and look forward to tonight's match up with Owensboro Catholic. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 start. EV Staff, Granville Meredith, Contributor/Photo
