Darren Doyle, story Madison Doyle, photos: Although the Greenwood Lady Gators brought a big lineup to ECHS Friday night, the Lady Cats found a way to win with a much smaller roster as Edmonson County got up and down the floor and found success in driving to the basket for some easy shots. The Lady Cats also shot an impressive 46% from three point range as four different players got in on the action from behind the arc. Edmonson County created too much of a hill for the Lady Gators to climb as they compiled a 28 point lead at halftime. Although Greenwood was able to put together a couple of runs, one coming in the final minutes of the game, the Lady Cats held on for the 60-46 win. Edmonson County was led by Caitlin Simon, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds, but a team effort landed four different Lady Cats in double figures.
Peyton Martin had 15 points and 3 rebounds, Katlin Collins impressed with 14 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds, while going 2 for 2 from the three point line, and Skylar Lewis contributed with 11 points and 4 assists. Freshman Lauren Ballance added three points on a basket and foul with a free throw. The Lady Cats improve to 3-1 on the season and are scheduled to take on Franklin Simpson at home on Tuesday, December 13 in a JV/V match beginning at 5:30pm. There will be no game broadcast so everyone is encouraged to come out to ECHS and support the team in person.
