Darren Doyle, story: Wildcat senior baseball standout Tanner Woodcock signed to play baseball at Union College at a ceremony today at Edmonson County High School. Woodcock said he was beyond grateful to have this opportunity. "I couldn't have had any of this without support from my family, teammates, and all the coaches that have made me into the player I am today," said Tanner. "So many people have invested so much time, effort, and money into me." Wildcat Baseball Head Coach Bo West spoke to the Edmonson Voice about Tanner's contributions to the ECHS program over the years.
"This is a great opportunity for Tanner," he said. "He's earned this through all the hard work he's put into baseball and into his academics through the years. I couldn't be more proud of him--to watch him grow and mature as a person that cares about his teammates and community. He's not just about himself." Woodcock joins a former ECHS teammate at Union, Dylan Waldrop, who also signed with the Bulldogs in May of 2017 as a senior. "I know he'll work hard and I wish him nothing but the best at Union," West added. Woodcock was joined by his parents, Jason and Carey Woodcock of Bee Spring, as well as members of the Wildcat Baseball team at today's ceremony. "I can never thank everyone enough for getting me to where I am today," Tanner said. The Wildcat Baseball team is off to a perfect start with a 5-0 record. They defeated Trinity at home last night 8-7 in a district win.
