Barren County Bounces Back After Big Wildcat Run
Edmonson Voice Sports:
A couple of cold streaks for the Cats allowed the Barren County Trojans to knock off Edmonson County at home last night 44-38 as the Wildcats lost their third in a row.

Both teams shot poorly from the field as Barren made only 24% of their attempts and the Wildcats shot 28%; however, the rebounding edge went to the Trojans 44-30, allowing them to score 12 second chance points, compared to only 5 for the Cats.

Although a loss, the Wildcats got a bit of a morale boost as they were blown out during their last two contests by an average of 34 points. Both teams battled and the game was close the entire way. Barren led by ten at one point in the second quarter but a big third quarter allowed the Cats to scratch their way back.

Edmonson County put together an impressive 14-3 run in the third that gave the Wildcats a 31-30 lead, capped off by two consecutive buckets by Tucker Cole. Cole led the Wildcats in scoring with 18 points. He also added 4 rebounds and two assists.

"I was really proud of the kids," said Coach Mike McClintic. "We just came from two games where we weren't in those games, so for them to come out here and play as hard as they did tonight, we had guys in spots that they hadn't been in all year, I thought everybody responded. Everybody that got in the game tonight did their job."

Both teams went cold during the fourth but the Trojans were able to hit their free throws down the stretch as they went on to win.

Dylan Elmore was the other Wildcat in double figures with 10 points. Also scoring for Edmonson County was Brayden Carey with 4 points, while J.T. Vincent and Chaz Wilson each scored 3 points a piece.

The Wildcats were without their leading scorer, senior Logan Lindsey, who is out indefinitely with a foot injury.

The Wildcats are now 2-5 on the season and are scheduled to travel to Grayson County Saturday night, December 16th in a JV/V match beginning at 5:30pm. There will be no WildcatsLive broadcast that night.
