Edmonson Falls To Trinity 67-61 In All A Classic Region 3 Tournament Darren Doyle, story: Madison Doyle, photos: A huge three-pointer from Dalton Decker with 11.5 seconds to go in regulation tied the game at 56, but it wasn't enough momentum to push the Cats through in overtime against the Trinity Raiders in round one of the All A Region 3 Classic. Each team traded punches from the opening tip until overtime with multiple lead changes and several ties, but as turnovers plagued both teams (23 each), Trinity was able to execute their plan first as they clung to a late lead. The Wildcats were forced to foul in the final minute and the Raiders hit their foul shots down the stretch to claim the 67-61 win. "We came out ready to play tonight. We got us a lead, but daggone it man," said Coach Mac, who was clearly frustrated. "But when you play hard, and they played hard, but 23 turnovers...that's the difference, they came at bad times."
It's been a sore spot for Edmonson County all season long. Two Wildcats turned out double figures; led by Decker with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists, Griffin Spainhoward added 13 points and 5 rebounds, and Mason Pierce scored 8 points while grabbing 5 rebounds off the bench. When they needed a bucket, it didn't fall. When the call could go either way, it went the other way; however, Trinity's execution was better and when something was needed on their end, it seemed to go that way. "The kids that got in, they did their job," said Coach Mac. "Some of them played two minutes, some of them played 32, or whatever, but we have to take better care of the ball. We took some shots when we shouldn't have been taking them, and we threw the ball--well, it just goes back to turnovers again." The remaining box score is: Eli Booker 8, Chaz Wilson 8, Nick Clemmons 6. The Wildcats are now 7-10 on the year. They aren't scheduled to play again until Friday, January 18th on the road at Hart County for a JV/V match with JV action beginning at 5:30pm.
