Edmonson Voice Sports:
A total of 63 young basketball campers from grades kindergarten through 8th grade just completed ECHS's Wildcat Basketball Camp, 2021. Members of the Wildcat basketball team served as instructors and participants in the event. Each year, the camp invites future Wildcats to participate in the program that emphasizes fundamentals, proper footwork and technique, while playing unselfishly and with great effort. Head Coach Brad Johnson said that this year's campers were very enthusiastic and many were disappointed when it was over. “I was blown away by the turnout," Coach Brad said. "Kids were enthusiastic and worked hard. I could see lots of improvement from the first day to the last.” Johnson said the camp was able to show the older kids parts of the ECHS system and what to expect when they enter high school basketball. He said he was also very pleased with how his current players handled themselves as instructors. “I am proud of the high school boys and how they interacted with the kids.” Awards were given for "hot spot," offense, defense, as well as "110%." “We are excited about the future of EC basketball," Coach Brad added. "We have some boys that are ready to go to work.”
