Darren Doyle, story and photos: Edmonson County senior lineman Logan Hagan signed with College of the Canyons today at a ceremony at ECHS to play college football, beginning next season. The college is located in Santa Clarita, California, which is a suburb of Los Angeles. "We're excited for him, he's been a fixture here in our football program for many years," said ECHS Athletic Director Kyle Pierce. "I can still remember when he was...well...he was always tall," he joked as the crowd laughed. "I can still remember him in little league and middle school and knew this day would come." Logan was joined by his parents, David and Crystal Frederick as he signed the documents for the school. Logan spoke to the crowd about his decision. "It's been a long, hard four years and I've dealt with some adversity," he said. "This here is going to open up a lot of opportunities for me. I've done a lot of praying and thinking about it and this is where my heart called to, so I'm going to sign with College of the Canyons." Wildcat Head Football Coach Nathan Smith also spoke of Logan's impact on the Wildcats over the years.
"I'm super proud of Logan, he's absolutely worked his tail off for us over the last 7 years," said Smith. "To see him turn into the man and the leader he is today is pretty awesome. He's been a staple around our football program for a long time. I wish him the best and I think he's done a great job of being a great example for all of our other kids to look up to... He's a great young man, I'm proud of him today." The two-year community college has a current enrollment of around 17K students.
