Darren Doyle, story and photos: Ten different Wildcats put points on the board in their dominating 72-41 win over Metcalfe County last night on the road. The Wildcats looked to build on their first win of the season that came on Thursday night against Barren County. Edmonson County looked sharp and on point from the opening tip and found success from all parts of the court. "As a coach, you're always worried about a let-down after a big win like we got against Barren, but we came out tonight and were very crisp," said Assistant Coach Bart Weaver. "We kind of got a little lazy there at times, but we were pleased we came back after an exhausting win last night." The Wildcats wasted no time getting down to business as they took an early 20-11 lead. They continued their aggressive defense in the second quarter and transition baskets helped them carry a 40-21 lead into the locker room at halftime. Edmonson County extended their lead to 60-34 in the third quarter which allowed the starters to rest a bit while several younger and reserve players gained some good varsity experience in the 72-41 win.
Caleb Skaggs led the Wildcats in offense with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Bailey Board finished with 16 points and 4 rebounds, Tucker Cole had 11 points and 6 assists, Iszic Blankenship had 7 points and 10 rebounds, and Daniel Caudill added 5 points and 3 rebounds. The remaining Wildcat box score was: Carey 3, Minton 3, Lindsey 2, Vincent 3, Talley 4. The Wildcats are now 2-5 on the season and are scheduled to host Fredrick Fraize (Cloverport) on Thursday, December 22 at ECHS. It will be the final game before the post-Christmas Caveland Classic, hosted at ECHS the following week.
