Edmonson County Wins in Three Innings It was a barrage of bats at Wildcat Field on Monday evening as they consistently made solid contact with pitches from the Warren Central Dragons. The onslaught of offense was far too much for the struggling Dragons as the Cats put up 17 runs in the second inning, where the entire lineup batted around, three batters hit three times in the inning, and one batter would have made is fourth trip to the plate in the inning had he not been pulled for a sub. It was also a special evening for sophomore pitcher/infielder Hunter Wilson, who earned his 200th strikeout in a game during the team's spring break trip to the East Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Tournament. Head Coach Michael Meredith presented him with the game ball in which the feat was accomplished. Against the Dragons, three Wildcats were perfect at the plate, with Levi Meredith going 2 for 2 with a triple and an RBI, Hunter Wilson went 2-2 with a double, and Garrett Lyons went 3-3. Drew Pierce was 2-3, Carter Hodges went 2-3 with a double, Dakotah Curtis was 2-3 with a triple, Colton Webb went 2-3 with a double, and Layne Ashley was 2-3 with a double. Pierce also had two stolen bases and Ashley swiped one. Three Wildcats saw action on the mound in the three-inning match against the Dragons, which was run-ruled. Colton Webb started the game, giving up no hits, walking three, and striking out one with one hit batsmen and an earned run.
Carter Hodges struck out three on no hits and no walks. Kalvin Kitchens faced two batters in the final inning and gave up two runs on one hit with no walks and a strikeout. The Dragons were held to only one hit while the Wildcats slapped 21 total for their side. Edmonson County only struck out twice during the game and zero walks. "We hit it pretty good," Coach Meredith said after the game. Warren Central fell to 1-7 on the year. The Wildcats improved to 8-5 on the season and will host Allen County-Scottsville tonight at 5:30PM.
