Darren Doyle, story: Madison Doyle, photos: The Wildcats outlasted the Trinity Raiders in a physical contest during round one of the All A Classic in Cloverport as they won, 69-48. The Wildcats showed maturity, toughness, and character in the win that started off with both teams neck-and-neck. Both teams were knocking down shots early while showing aggressive play on both ends of the court. The first quarter ended in a 10-10 tie but Edmonson County found success in pounding the ball in the paint and driving to the lane in the second as they led 32-25 at the half. Trinity began to commit what seemed to be plenty of frustration fouls as emotions began to run high in the second half. Edmonson County used that to their advantage while using an impressive half-court trap defense to start creating a little space. The Wildcats led 42-34 to start the fourth. They held off a Trinity run and hit their free throws down the stretch to go on for the 69-48 win. The Wildcats had three in double figures as Bailey Board led the way with 19 points, Iszic Blankenship had 18 points and 8 rebounds, and Caleb Skaggs had 16 points.
The remaining box score was: Cole 6, Caudill 6, Lindsey 2, Elmore 2. The Wildcats are now 8-6 on the season and are scheduled to take on McClean County on Tuesday night in the second round of the All A Classic beginning around 7:30pm.
